Dear Provider,

You, as a home-based chilcare provider, are a very important person! Can you think of any work that is more important than caring for children? They are our future! As a childcare provider, you establish the dietary patterns that set the stage for that future! Children may not instinctively know what to eat, but they know when food is served with love. That is why we are here to assist you in the care of nutrition. Sunshine Connections, Inc. is a Child and Adult Care Food Program that is a federally funded nutrition program administered in Kansas by the State Department of Education and is designed for daycare homes and centers. Sunshine Connections, Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a contract with the State Department of Education to operate this program.

 

Our goal is to give you the best service possible. We do this in the following manner: friendly, kind, and educated staff, simple menu forms, notebooks that contain all necessary information, newsletters, nutritional sample menus, nutrition updates, free calenders. Workshops are provided throughout the year to help train providers in the area of nutrition.

 

Why become involved in the food program? The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child and Adult care Food Program provides you each month with a reimbursement check for the nutritional meals that you serve the children in your daycare.

 

Your own children can benefit under the Food Program also. If you qualify under USDA's income guidelines, you can be reimbursed for meals that your own children eat along with your childcare children.
